Report including details of M-STEP proficiency and SAT Scores, 2016-17

GOAL: Ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills, abilities and knowledge necessary to be successful in the next step in their lives, be it college, vocational training, military or other endeavors

Michigan began using the M-STEP in the 2014-15 school year as the statewide assessment of student growth. English Language Arts and Mathematics are assessed in grades 3 through 8, Science in grades 4 and 7, and Social Studies in grades 5 and 8; while students in 11th grade are assessed using the Michigan Merit Examination (MME). The MME includes three components: a job skills assessment in reading, mathematics and locating information; College Board SAT; and the Michigan-developed Science and Social Studies M-STEP. Starting with the 201516 school year, MI School Data reports SAT scores and M-STEP Science and Social Studies scores. The SAT provides information about college readiness through four sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (reading, writing and language tests) and a math test.
