Facts about dementia
• Not a part of normal aging • 95% of people above age 70 DON’T have dementia • Aging can slow the brain, slow ≠ dementia
• Dementia can be caused by neurological diseases • Alzheimer’s disease is most common diagnosis • Vascular dementia is next most common diagnosis
• Dementia can also be a symptom of other conditions • Infections, UTIs, and medication mis-use are common causes of confused behavior
